CRATER SDA EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

PREAMBLE

 

Ellen White asserts that true education means more than pursuing a certain course of study but is has do with the harmonious development of the physical, the mental, social  and the spiritual powers.  All true knowledge and real development have their source in a knowledge of God. Crater SDA church does not own and run her own schools but rather it offers chaplaincy services in three primary and three secondary schools within Nakuru County. Education and chaplaincy departments work closely to promote Adventist education through evangelism and mentorship programs. As crater SDA  church through department of education and other department we have divine purpose of transmitting to learners  and primary  adult significant others  the Church’s ideals, beliefs, attitudes, values, habits, and customs with aims of promoting education for whole and complete life in a lifetime. . The source, the means, and the aim of this true education are a true knowledge of God, fellowship and companionship with Him in study and service, and likeness to Him in character development.

2019  GOAL: Promotion of education for whole and complete life in a lifetime 2019 KEY VERSE:  Luke 2: 41-52

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES :

By 31stDecember, 2019, the education department will be able to promote ideals and practices of Adventist education at home, school and church that

  1. Fosters balanced development of the whole person-spiritually, intellectually, physically and socially
  2. Develops a life of faith in God and respect for the dignity of all human beings;
  • Aids in character formation  and character display of primary and secondary target  population that is akin to that of the Creator;
  1. Nurtures critical thinking and  problem solving  that reflect God character
  2. Promotesservice provision to all irrespective of their diversity of age, developmental stage, disability/ health status, religion/spirituality, ethnicity/ race social economic background, indigenous/ immigration, nationality and gender (ADDRESSING)
  3. Ensures maximum development of each individual’s potential for service and leadership for current life and life to come

EDUCATION AGENCIES

HOME

Home is primary and most influential agency of education. Parents have responsibility to reflect God’s character in their children. Home setting shapes values, attitudes, and world view of young.  As a department will assist parents to diligently fulfill their divine responsibility of laying a foundation for character formation and spiritual nourishment of their children (Proverbs 22:6; Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

CRATER SDA CHURCH

As Crater Seventh-day Adventist Church through the department of education, other relevant departments, church board and church membership; there a commitment to promote education for whole and complete life in current life and life to come that nurture spiritual and character formation of children, youth and young adults for service of God and humanity within the context of the ideals and practices of Adventist church worldview. The Church extends this same opportunity to other children and youth of the community who share similar values and ideals

SCHOOLS UNDER CHURCH CHAPLAINCY

Crater SDA church does not own and run her own schools but rather it offers chaplaincy services in three primary and three secondary schools within Nakuru County. Education and chaplaincy departments work closely to promote Adventist education through evangelism and mentorship programs. During holiday, education department with children and youth departments offer mentorship programs that help Adventist students reach their potential for spiritual, mental, physical, social, and vocational development in preparation for a life of service to their family, church, and the larger community. Education department working closely with department of youth, offer after school mentorship programs that prepares junior youth and young adults for life in secondary school and colleges/ universities.  respectively

CONFERENCE AND WORLD CHURCH

Crater SDA will work closely with department/directorate of education of  the  conference/ union, division and general conference
